“Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
I’m on all kinds of supplements now with more in the mail and it’s tempting to be frustrated that I’m still waking up exhausted. This exhaustion though is nothing compared to the exhaustion of last week and I believe that next week I’ll look back on today and think, “now, Friday, that was exhaustion.” It’s all so relative though, isn’t it? My exhaustion might be just another day for you and your exhaustion might be barely tired for me.
Nonetheless, whether we’re dropping like flies or just feeling a little tired it is amazing to me to know that for those who hope in the Lord he stands in the gap. He is there to renew our strength. Sometimes, in my life, that means He renews my physical strength. At other times he renews my mental strength and, more often than not, it means that he renews my spiritual strength so that I can endure the exhaustion until my physical strength returns.
My prayer for all of us is that even during those times of exhaustion, whether they are physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, we will continue to hope in the Lord so that we may receive those times of renewal.
